Henderson residents are encouraged to review the recently drafted Henderson Strong Comprehensive Plan and to share their comments by going online and accessing the interactive document.

Starting Sept. 1, members of the community can review the city’s long-term goals and objectives outlined in the draft Henderson Strong plan that will guide the growth and development of the city for the next 20 years.

The plan will be open for comments through Sept. 30 at HendersonStrong.org.

The Henderson Strong draft was developed using resident input which highlighted concerns and data-driven research which shaped the comprehensive plan. Community members identified the issues that they cared most about, including schools and education, healthy and safe communities and parks and open spaces. Community members also said they would like to see improvements along the Boulder Highway Corridor and Lake Mead Parkway, as well as in the Downtown Henderson area.

The need for an updated comprehensive plan was also driven by the city’s expected population growth which is projected to include an additional 100,000 residents over the next 20 years. The draft uses research and strategies vetted through the recently adopted $3.5 million Southern Nevada Strong (SNS) Regional Plan, while specifically tailoring the plan to the local level and in ways that work for Henderson’s unique community needs.

Input gathered from residents between Sept. 1 and Sept. 30 will be incorporated into the draft prior to the Henderson Strong Plan being finalized so that it can be presented to the Mayor and City Council. For additional information on the Henderson Strong planning process, visit HendersonStrong.org.
