LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Clark County School District has been promoting a culture of peace all week for Peace Week.

Former Assemblyman Tyrone Thompson started Peace Week prior to his passing as a way to wrap up Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day and promote peace in a bigger fashion.

"We kind of took it and ran with it really," explained Robert Hinchliffe, principal of Tyrone Thompson Elementary School.

"Ms. Price and the librarian, Ms. Rittenhouse, ran with it and began to create a lot of activities for kids at home and at school through distance learning," he said.

"It kind of took a life of its own, where we kind of has activities every day of the week," added Hinchliffe. "The kids have been doing a lot of things in the classrooms to celebrate the idea of peace."
