Celine Dion received the prestigious ICON Award from Billboard and Dick Clark productions on May 4. In honor of her award, Dion will perform a special rendition of Queen's "The Show Must Go On" at the "2016 Billboard Music Awards," which will broadcast live from the T-Mobile Arena on May 22 at 5 p.m. on ABC.
“Celine Dion has a huge repertoire of monster hits and she personally chose to perform ‘The Show Must Go On’ as her ICON performance on the Billboard Music Awards,” stated “2016 Billboard Music Awards” executive producer Mark Bracco. “I think at this moment in her life, the song has many meanings and it’s an amazing choice.”
Dion has sold almost 250 million albums during her 30-year career, making her the best-selling female artist of all time. She's received countless awards from the Grammys, the Billboard Music Awards and the Oscars, and has won an astonishing 40 Felix Awards in Quebec. She continues to perform at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, where she will celebrate her 1,000th performance in the venue this fall.
The "2016 Billboard Music Awards" will be hosted by Ludacris and Ciara. Awards are based on key fan interactions with music, including album and digital song sales, radio airplay, streaming, touring, and social media interactions. The Billboard charts have been the go-to guide for ranking the popularity of songs and albums since 1940, and are considered the ultimate measure of a musician's success.
