The community is invited to attend the celebration of life for Christopher Smith on May 15 at 5:30 p.m. at Mosaic Church (formerly South Hills Community Church), located at 9220 Manhattan Road in Henderson.

Christopher was the beloved son of local fundraising icon, Linda Smith, recognized as the fundraising pillar of Opportunity Village for 38 years, and entertainer Glenn Smith. Born in Canada on May 15, 1970, Christopher’s Down Syndrome diagnosis and illegal citizenship was the subject of a political battle that led Linda on a journey to become a lifelong advocate for people with disabilities. As an Opportunity Village client who worked in the Paper Pros division, Christopher was a loving and compassionate friend to those who worked with him, knew him and cared for him.

The celebration, to take place on what would have been Christopher’s 49th birthday, will honor the contribution and lasting impact Christopher had on the disability community, including the legacy he inspired at Opportunity Village and throughout the world. Pastor Robin Joyce will be officiating the service, with special guests, dignitaries and celebrities who were impacted by Christopher’s life in attendance, including longtime family friend Wayne Newton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Christopher Smith Foundation, Opportunity Village or Nathan Adelson Hospice.
