The Mary and Sam Boyd Clubhouse received a $16,500 Triple Play grant from Amerigroup Foundation, providing much-needed updates in equipment and supplies for the Club’s gamesroom, a central hub for kids and teens to learn about team work, getting along with others and leadership.
The Mary and Sam Boyd Clubhouse was the target of a string of vandalism incidents in early 2016 and the grant marks a critical step in revitalizing and enhancing a community resource for local youth.
The renovation of the new room is made possible locally through the support of Amerigroup Foundation and includes areas where kids and teens can play educational games, participate in physical activities as well as utilize spaces to form friendships.
Funding from the grant will provide new carpet and paint for the gamesroom as well as a new air hockey table, ping pong table, board games and re-felt pool tables, among other items.
Triple Play is Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s signature health and wellness program focused on the mind, body and soul to teach kids and teens and teens about living a healthy lifestyle.
Since 2005, Triple Play has made connections with more than 10 million youth around the country.
