13 Things To Do This Week For March 11-17

Here is a list of 13 things to do in Las Vegas this week for the week of March 11-17:

1. The Nevada School of the Arts in downtown Las Vegas will present "Musical Crossroads" featuring La Catrina String Quartet at the Historic Fifth Street School Auditorium on March 11. An artists' reception will follow. 

2. The March qualifier for Battle Born Slam goes down on March 11 at Emergency Arts and The Beat Coffee. There are only 3 slams left before the April finals. Anyone can sign up and anyone can come in and watch. 17-year-old Tommi Simmons will be the featured poet of the slam. An open mic will follow.

3. Legendary heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson has returned for round 2 on a Las Vegas stage. Tyson's one-man show "Undisputed Truth" is presented Thursdays through Sundays in Brad Garrett's Comedy Club at the MGM Grand.

4. Las Vegas' Catfish John will present a tribute to the musical journey of the Grateful Dead on March 11. Jeff Orr (lead vocals/rhythm guitar), Dusty Alander (vocals/lead guitar), Jason Gavin (percussion), Scott Tilotson (vocals/guitar), Keith Alcantara (vocals/percussion)  and Jack Dellavalle (bass) bring back their own interpretation of music that has inspired for 50 years.

5. "The Speed of Darkness" opens March 11 at Las Vegas Little Theatre. The play tells the story of two Vietnam vets who reunite 20 years later and are haunted by the ghosts of the boys they were during the war. Performances through March 27.

6. Neon Reverb Friday Festival at Bunkhouse Saloon will feature performances by Hungry Cloud, Colleen Green, Big Friendly Corporation, Black Camaro, Dirty Hooks, Bleached and The Mapes at midnight.

7. Liquid Red Las Vegas presents Animal Party on March 11 at Stateside Lounge. Animal, fur, goth or fetish attire is suggested for the LGBT friendly, pansexual event. Goth/industrial dance mix by DJ Phenix.

8. Downtown Summerlin will host a spring festival on March 12. The event will feature an appearance by the Easter Bunny, kid's activities, petting zoo, music, relay games, and St. Jude "Celebration of Life" sculpture unveiling with artist meet-and-greet.

9. Knockout at the D will feature six exciting fights on March 12. The main event will feature junior welterweights Zab "Super" Judah and Josh "Pitbull" Torres. Lightweights Chuy "El Huracan" Gutierrez and Leon "The Third Generation" Spinks III will duke it out in the co-feature.

10. Dancer, musician and actor Kevin Federline will host his birthday bash, followed by a guest DJ set, at Crazy Horse III gentleman's club on March 12.

11. Hotel California, the original Eagles tribute, will return to M Resort on March 12. The foursome is known for having a sound closest to Don Henley.

12. REDFOO performs with Snap Murphy on March 15 at Backstage Bar and Billiards. Other performances by Ulysses, Anglo Sax, Jackie G and Radical Methodz.

13. The Monster Jam World Finals are back at Sam Boyd Stadium March 17 through 19. The top 32 monster trucks in the world will compete for the coveted titles of Racing World Champion and Freestyle World Champion. The Party in the Pits before the competition will feature more than 100 trucks, driver autographs, activities for kids and more.
