13 Things To Do This Week for Dec. 4-10

Here is a list of 13 things to do in the Las Vegas valley for Dec. 4-10:

1. The MGM Grand Garden Arena will host a college showcase featuring UNLV Rebels vs. Oregon Ducks. The game will benefit Coaches vs. Cancer, a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches. 

2. Vinyl inside the Hard Rock will host an evening of non-stop rock and roll when Reverend Horton Heat performs there Dec. 4. Special guests include The Bellrays and Lords of Altamont.

3. Home Cookin' performs Dec. 4 in at the Bunkhouse Saloon in downtown Las Vegas. Home Cookin' is a horn-based soul band that rose to local fame in the mid-90s. Two of their biggest hits include "Soul Space Express" and "X-Rated Superstar."

4. Cowboy Christmas and Classic Car Show is taking place Dec. 5 at Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs. There will be hay rides, a petting zoo, jump house, live entertainment, holiday elf contest for puppies and a visit from Santa. Hosted by Mayor Pro Tem Steven D. Ross.

5. The first Great American Comic Con is taking place Dec. 5-6 at the Sport Center of Las Vegas. The comic con will feature some of the best comic book writers, artists and professionals in the business. Major comic dealers from across the U.S. will also be in attendance. 

6. Local radio personality Mercedes will bring her annual Not So Silent Night holiday show to The Joint at the Hard Rock on Dec. 5. The lineup for this year's event is Rob Thomas from Matchbox Twenty and special guest Adam Lambert. A portion of the proceeds from the ticket sales will benefit Nevada Childhood Cancer.

7. Very Awesome Girls into Nerdy Activities will host a special screening of the 1964 B movie classic "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians" on Dec. 6 at the Onyx Theatre. There will be a costume contest, raffle prizes, shopping, snacks and drinks.

8. Bill O'Reilly and Dennis Miller will bring their unique mix of political commentary and good-natured humor to The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Dec. 5 as part of their Don't Be A Pinhead tour.

9. Italian classical tenor Andrea Bocelli continues a tradition with a performance at MGM Grand Garden Arena on Dec. 5. Bocelli will perform many of his chart-topping hits and most recognizable songs.

10. The Eli Young Band began performing together in 2000 while attending North Texas State University and are known for their edgy, passionate indie music. They perform Dec. 10 in the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay.

11. The Las Vegas Philharmonic will kick off the holiday season with a family-friendly concert on Dec. 5 and 6 in Reynolds Hall at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts. This year's performances will feature a special screening of the film "The Snowman" accompanied by the orchestra performing the score.

12. Conversations with Norm will feature Rick Harrison, frontman for the hit reality TV show "Pawn Stars," on Dec. 9 in the Cabaret Jazz Theater at The Smith Center. The light-hearted interview series is hosted by Las Vegas Review-Journal columnist Norm Clarke.

13. The Angry Brians will bring their own style of Celtic fusion to the 3rd Street Stage at the Fremont Street Experience Dec. 10 and 11. The Angry Brians combined the raw drive of Dropkick Murphy's and the energetic complexity of Flogging Molly.
