13 Things To Do This Week In Las Vegas For April 28-May 4

A list of 13 things to do this week in Las Vegas for the week of April 28 through May 4:

1. If you love board games and you have never been to Meepleville, now is the time to change that. Board Game Night is happening April 28 at the board game cafe. It's only $5 to play and Meepleville has hundreds of games to choose from.

2. The 4th annual Black Film Festival continues through April 30 at the Suncoast. The film festival features some of the most talented independent filmmakers from around the world. There are also workshops and panels, parties, an actors showdown and award ceremony.

3. Cinema in the Circle at Huntridge Park will feature the movie "FernGully: The Last Rainforest' on April 28. Residents are invited to bring their blankets and picnic baskets and enjoy the free movie.

4. Rock into Spring at M Resort is a 3-day rock and roll festival. It begins April 28 and ends April 30. There will be performances by Art of Anarchy, Buckcherry, Adelita's Way, Sick Puppies, Alien Ant Farm, Eve to Adam, Bobaflex and many more. You can get a tattoo, party with the Gangster Gurls and enter for a chance to win a new Chevrolet Camaro.

5. Home + History Las Vegas 2017 offers lovers of architecture and history several opportunities to check out unique midcentury homes and other buildings located in Downtown Las Vegas. There are bus tours, self-guided tours, photo exhibits and more.

6. Big Dog's Draft House on Rancho Drive is hosting Peace, Love & Hoppy-ness on April 29. The annual event pays homage to ho-forward beers and bold barbecue flavors. There will be bold IPAs and Double IPAs from around the country available for purchase.

7. The popular Las Vegas Highland Games are back this weekend at Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs. The annual event features athletics including throwing weights and hammers, sheaf tossing and the caber toss, live music, food, multiple vendors, dance competitions, bagpiping and drumming competitions.

8. Car lovers will want to check out the Show & Shine Car Show at Ellis Island on April 29. The show is open to all makes and models of cars. Awards will be given for Best Car in each class. Drawings every half hour and special appearance by the Jack Daniel's girls.

9. Enoch Augustus Scott, Anne Martinez and Amanda Kraft will star in "Hedwig & The Angry Inch" April 27 through 29 at the House of Blues inside Mandalay Bay. The off-Broadway hit tells the story of the "internationally ignored song stylist" Hedwig Schmidt, who happens to be the victim of a botched sex-change operation leaving her with just "an angry inch."

10. The 25th annual Las Vegas City of Lights Jazz and R&B Festival is back April 29 and 30 at the Clark County Government Center Amphitheater. Performers include Elan Trotman, Nick Colionne, Gerald Albright, Will Downing, Eric Roberson, Ro James and Anthony Hamilton.

11. The Battle of the Broadway Comedians stars comedic heavyweights Dick Capri (“Now That’s Funny! The Living Legends of Stand-up Comedy”) and Steve Solomon (“My Mother’s Italian, My Father’s Jewish & I’m in Therapy”). Following a sports-announcer opening fit for a major boxing event, the comedians face off in two rounds of hilarious stand-up to test which funnyman can win the audience. Performances continue through April 30 in the Troesh Studio Theater at The Smith Center.

12. The Dia del Nino Festival at Springs Preserve is a celebration of childhood. There will be clowns and magicians, cooking demos, face painting, a petting zoo, live entertainment, food and beverages, hands-on crafts and more. The festival will take place April 29.

13. Country singer John Michael Montgomery is known for his ability to relate to fans despite the roomful of awards and string of hit records. He performs April 29 at the Tropicana.
