LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — As nonessential businesses go dark, pawn shops are providing relief for those out of work.
For the World Famous Max Pawn, business is picking up during the global pandemic.
Owner Michael Mack says with so many people suddenly out of work, he thought he would see customers borrow against their possessions. But, he says it's just the opposite.
"Middle-class folks that shop and get loans here are spending money in my store like they've never spent before," Mack said.
Mack said for those that are still waiting on financial relief, his store is now offering interest-free loans for the entire term with no fees and no interest.
While staying open, the company is taking extra safety precaution in store by giving all customers masks and gloves.
Max Pawn also rolled out a new way to shop called Curbside Couture.
"Curbside Couture allows you to stay in your car while we bring out the items to you."
World Famous Max Pawn is located at 6040 W. Sahara Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89146.
