LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Melinda Sheckells, Las Vegas lifestyle and entertainment expert, shares recommendations on what’s new, what to try this week and what’s happening around town in the realm of dining and drinking.

Good Pie on Main Street is getting ready to open late Sept/early October. Owner and pizza maker Vincent Rotolo recently drew back the curtain on the forthcoming pie shop on Main Street in the Arts District to give Tasty Tuesday a preview of the space. Construction is almost complete and service will launch with outdoor seating and a walk-up window as well as an inside counter.

Four types of draught wine will be sold in half and full carafes, as well as seven beers on tap. The cocktail of the moment will be the Campari Negroni. In terms of pizzas, five basic pies can be done in four different styles and there will be four specialty pies—think The Chicago Detroit, a square deep dish. Also get excited for the Prosciutto Arugula, a white Detroit pie, with post-oven prosciutto and arugula from local eco-farm Desert Bloom. There will be sandwiches and a rotating fried appetizer like the Good Pie mozzarella stick, featuring burrata cheese. Four salads round out the menu and one will include vegan plant-based feta, which Rotolo says is the best cheese he has ever tasted. His high-powered pizza over can cook 140 pies an hour and 32 at a time.

In the southwest, Hemant Kishore is cooking at DW Bistro on Sept. 12 as part of the “Dining With … ” guest chef series. Following a sold-out kick-off event, DW Bistro and Kishore partner on The Perfect Harmony Tasting Dinner. Known for The Toddy Shop pop-ups around town, the chef brings his Indian street food specialty to DW Bistro, where he will present an Ayurveda-inspired tasting experience for the body, mind and soul. The event will have interactive breaks for group meditation and breathing practices, and each course will be paired with a non-alcoholic elixir. The vegetarian menu will feature dishes including Lemon Rice, Basmati rice with lemon, turmeric, curry leaf and cashew-raisin; Dosa, a fermented rice and lentil pancake with coconut chutney and hatch chile chutney; and DW Bistro-Inspired Lentil Sliders, with curried ginger aioli, hatch chile chutney, farm greens topped on a lentil cake in a brioche bun. Tickets are available at dwbistro.com.

Sickies Garage Burgers & Brews is now open at Town Square. This is their seventh location and first in the west. Started in 2012 in North Dakota, Sickies Garage is known for 50 fun burgers and 25 types of wings. Specialties include the Twin Cam, a burger tucked between two grilled cheese sandwiches; the Macaroni and Cheese Burger topped with, what else, mac and cheese; and the Glazed Doughnut Burger with American cheese and peppered bacon on a glazed doughnut bun. There are also Tater Kegs and Jameson wings plus boozy shakes. All this is served in a funky garage-themed space underneath classic cars, trucks and motorcycles.

A Las Vegas favorite since 1982, Piero’s Italian Cuisine is reopening for limited dinner service Oct. 2. Piero’s will be serving on Fridays and Saturdays from 5:30 to 9 p.m. only. Chef Chris Conlon reimagined the classic menu last year when he came on board and some dishes not be missed include the Garbage Caesar salad, Gulf Scampis and Veal Chop Parmesan.
