The appeal of Twitter for many is the fact that tweets are limited to 140 characters. That may be about to change though.
According to an article from re/code, multiple sources are saying that Twitter is considering a 10,000 character limit. That is the same character limit that the company currently imposes on direct messages.
Twitter is reportedly hoping to jumpstart user growth by changing the character limit. However, they will have to find a way not to drive away users who prefer the shorter tweets.
The company has not commented on its plans. It is believed that the new character limit will come about toward the end of the first quarter. However, sources say a date has not been set.
