Everyone becomes a little harrier in November, but what most people don’t realize is that it’s not all for the same cause. No-Shave November and Movember are actually two completely different things! The List’s Bradley Hasemeyer has theLowdown on No-Shave Movember confusion.
The three major differences between No-Shave November and Movember
What You Grow
Movember is all about growing out a mustache, whereas for No Shave November, you just don’t shave.
The Causes They Support
Movember is a global men's health charity. They’re known for their work in prostate and testicular cancer, but also fund men and boys mental health initiatives.
No Shave November is partnered with the American Cancer Society, Prevent Cancer Foundation, Fight Colorectal cancer and St. Jude's Research Hospital.
How You Participate
For Movember, men can simply grow a mustache. Women can either support the men in their life or participate in the MOVE campaign, which is a 30-day physical challenge. The idea is that the change in your lifestyle and appearance will spark conversations and bring awareness to health issues.
No-Shave November works a little differently, and women can get a little more involved. To put it bluntly: stop shaving. Then donate any money you spend on shaving products (shave cream, razors), a waxing appointment, or even a haircut to No Shave November.
