Janet Jackson will be honored at this year's Billboard Music Awards at MGM Grand Garden Arena on May 20.
The singer is expected to get the Icon Award, which recognizes an artist's cultural impact inside and outside the industry. Las Vegas headliner Cher received it in 2017 while fellow headliner Celine Dion was honored in 2016.
She is expected to perform that night, which will be her first televised performance in nine years.
