LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The widow of a man who was killed in aSouthwest Valley crash is speaking out after a recent court hearing.

Ann Marie Echevarria says she is surprised Zaon Collins did not get his bail increased after recent drug tests.

52-year-old Eric Echevarria was hit and killed driving out of his neighborhood in December of 2020 near Fort Apache and Blue Diamond. Investigators say Collins was going over 80 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone while high on marijuana.

Collins was released from electronic ankle monitoring in June. The district attorney’s office requested his bail be increased after they say he tested positive for meth in two recent drug tests.

Echevarria says Judge Ann Zimmerman, who is preceding over the case, denied the increase in bail last week.

“At least put him back on house arrest so he is monitored and not driving the streets of Las Vegas,” Ann Echevarria said.

Collins is set to be back in court in September.
