A Las Vegas woman hit a milestone Tuesday that neither she nor her family thought she would ever reach. She turned 105 years old.

Inside the Egg and I restaurant on Sahara, a surprise birthday party was held for Lois Guynup. Family, friends and even former Las Vegas Mayor, Oscar Goodman, came by to take part in the festivities.

"It's not every day that you're invited to a birthday celebration for one of your constituents who is 105 years old," Goodman quipped.

Guynup was the oldest county employee in Nevada before retiring at the age of 92. She worked at the Clark County Courthouse and before that the State Department during the Korean War.

"She's as cool as it gets," said Goodman. "She was a little envious of my martini. She was sort of drooling to get a taste of it, but I said no that is the one thing I'm not gonna be responsible for."

Goodman said he can't wait to celebrate with her this time next year.

"For her 106th we will have a real special celebration," he said.
