NOV. 9 UPDATE: The Clark County coroner has identified the victim as 25-year-old Dananjani Silva from Redlands, California.
The cause of death was ruled to be a suicide.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the woman parked her car on the west shoulder of southbound Interstate 15 near mile marker 7. She stepped into the middle lane in front of a semi, striking the right side of the vehicle.
For unknown reasons, the semi continued south on Interstate 15 and has not been identified or located. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The possibility of impairment is being investigated and toxicology results are pending.

JEAN, Nev. (KTNV) -- A woman was hit and killed by a semi on Monday around midnight on Interstate 15 near Jean.
Officials say the woman was crossing the highway when she was struck by the semi. The truck did not stop.
Southbound Interstate 15 was closed for several hours while troopers investigated the scene.
As a result, one father missed a crucial surgery for his daughter in Los Angeles.

"Getting her scheduled for these surgeries is extremely tough," said the father. "We'll probably go back and try to catch an airplane."
