A single-vehicle rollover on Interstate 80 near Lovelock has claimed the life of a female passenger who was ejected from the SUV.
Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Jim Stewart says the male driver of the Ford SUV was flown to a Reno hospital after the crash at about 8:20 a.m. Monday.
The passenger was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene about 14 miles west of Lovelock and 80 miles east of Reno.
Stewart told the Elko Daily Free Press the male driver apparently allowed the eastbound SUV to drift off the paved portion of the highway, across the median and through the westbound lanes before it overturned.
He says the woman who was killed was not wearing a seatbelt.
No names have been released. The accident remains under investigation.
