The driver accused in a fatal hit-and-run Wednesday has turned himself in to Henderson police.

24-year-old Eric Scott Leppard turned himself in to Henderson police around 1:30 p.m. Saturday. He faces felony hit-and-run, reckless driving causing death and failure to render aid.

50-year-old Echial Taylor of Henderson was killed by a hit-and-run driver around 11 p.m. Wednesday near Boulder Highway and Warm Springs Road.

Police say a woman was walking in the street when she was hit. She died at the scene. She was not in a crosswalk at the time.

The driver took off. Police are now looking for that car and driver.

The car is a 2003 Silver Mercedes CLK. The license plate number is LVU1K7. The vehicle had been reported stolen and found several hours later after being abandoned by the driver.

In addition to facing charges for theft, the driver will also face charges for the hit-and-run. Because of new state laws, leaving the scene of a crash with substantial injuries or property damage now carry a much harsher penalty.
