The wife of a well-known Elvis impersonator is fighting for her life in the hospital with a rare medical condition called Pheochromocytoma.
Matt Lewis tells 13 Action News no doctors in Nevada have experience with this condition affecting his wife, Janelle Lewis, and she needs to go to California.
The catch is they are having trouble with insurance and Janelle can only get the treatment if the couple pays cash.
Lewis had a stroke 16 days ago and has been in the hospital every since. The stroke was caused by a tumor on her adrenal gland, which is causing her blood pressure to spike to dangerous levels constantly.
"The doctors don't understand how she is functioning," said husband Matt Lewis. "She should be paralyzed and she's not. She has all of her functions. She is still smarter than me."
Matt and Janelle perform as "Elvis and a Showgirl" all around the country.
If you want to help, the couple has a GoFundMe account set up.
