A near miss this morning in front of Sister Robert Joseph Bailey Elementary on Jimmy Durante Boulevard is a reminder to be mindful of school zones, crosswalks and stay alert during the morning commute.
13 Action News viewer Blanca Morales capture the video on her dash camera. Her daughter attends Bailey Elementary. She said she was stunned when the driver nearly hit a mother, her children and the crossing guard.
"To think about how this mother could have lost her life and her two children could have been motherless, " Morales said. "Or the crossing guard. I know he's someone's father or son. You know it would have been tragedy. And it all could have been avoided by simply paying attention to the school zone signs."
