LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas police say a man jailed last Friday on armed robbery and burglary charges died after a guard found him in his cell with a bed sheet tied around his neck.
A department statement on Thursday said the 54-year-old detainee did not have what officials called "police interaction" before he was found unconscious at noon Wednesday next to his bed at the Clark County jail.
It says he was pronounced dead at University Medical Center in Las Vegas.
His name wasn't immediately made public, and the coroner's office didn't immediately release information about his identity or death.
