Officers responded to the intersection of Tropicana Avenue and Nellis Boulevard after 4 a.m. Police said the crash involved two four-door sedans and a box truck.

One of the sedans involved ran a red light, striking and then wedging itself under the truck and flipping it over, according to police. The box truck then hit another vehicle waiting at the light.

The red light driver died in the impact. Two passengers were also taken to the hospital with critical injuries and a third suffered minor injuries.

The truck driver sustained minor injuries, and the driver of the third vehicle was not injured, according to police.

Officers were at the scene for most of the morning for their investigation which closed the intersection for several hours.

The Clark County Coroner will release the identity of the driver after family has been notified.
