A 29-year-old Utah man has been convicted of assaulting a police officer at a Nevada casino on the state line along Interstate 80.

The Elko Daily Free Press reports an Elko County District Court jury found Jason Vialpando guilty on Friday of intimidating a public officer, battery and assault of an officer in West Wendover.

Prosecutors say he pushed and kicked the officers when they tried to wrestle him into a patrol car after responding to a call at the Wendover Nugget Hotel and Casino last May.

Vialpando now faces a maximum of more than four years in jail and $5,000 in fines. A sentencing date has not been set.
