UPDATE: It was reported shortly before 2 p.m. that U.S. 95 was open again. The man was taken into custody. No other information is currently available.
EARLIER STORY
U.S. 95 is shut down in both directions near Smoke Ranch Road in the northwest part of the valley because of a man sitting on the overpass.
Las Vegas police say they received a call at 1:03 p.m. about the man.
When they arrived and approached the man, he began to climb over the fence.
