A bicyclist is dead after being hit by a truck near Torrey Pines Drive and Charleston Boulevard around 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
Police say the truck veered out of its lane and hit the bicyclist. The truck kept going and smashed through a cinder block wall into a homeowner's backyard.
The bicyclist died from his injuries.
The truck driver fled the scene, but police caught up with him and took him into custody. Reports say the driver showed signs of impairment.
