HENDERSON (KTNV) — The Henderson Convention Center is set to be demolished soon, bringing us one step closer to a new Las Vegas Golden Knights hockey facility in downtown Henderson.

Today, the City of Henderson and Vegas Golden Knights bid farewell to the building and pave the way for construction of the new hockey facility, which is estimated at over $25 million.

The facility will have a full size rink, a full service restaurant and retail and meeting spaces inside.

It is set to open in the summer of 2020.

Local business owners are excited about the potential business boom this will bring.

The Henderson mayor and city council members will be at the event today, along with the Vegas Golden Knights president, defenceman Deryk Engelland and team mascot Chance.
