CARSON CITY (KTNV) — Carson City officials say Robert L. “Bob” Crowell, the northern Nevada city's mayor for over a decade, has died. He was 74.

Crowell died at the Veterans Affairs hospital in Reno. Cause of death was not disclosed. Crowell was first elected mayor in 2008 and reelected in 2012 and 2016.

He didn't run for reelection this year.

While mayor, Crowell oversaw Carson City's response to the Great Recession and a major redevelopment of the capital’s downtown.

Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak said Crowell “served Nevadans with honesty and integrity.” Flags at city facilities will be flown at half-staff for a week.
