The winds are coming to Las Vegas valley

It's about to get windy.

The winds are on their way to the Las Vegas valley. According to the latest information, sustained winds of 25 to 30 mph will be common for the Las Vegas valley this afternoon with gusts between 40 to 50 mph.

It is possible that some areas in Summerlin will see winds as high as 60 mph and Mount Charleston and the Red Rock Canyon area could see winds as high as 65 mph.

A wind advisory will be in effect starting at 1 p.m. and will end at 11 p.m. Friday night. Wind damage could be possible in some areas.

The Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and Spring Mountain Range will be under a high wind warning during the same time frame.

Although temperatures are expected to be in the mid 90s today, it will definitely start to cool down on Friday.

Friday's high temp will be in the 80's and Saturday's high temp is expected to be in the upper 70's.

No rain is expected. The winds are expected to start to die down by Sunday and be gone by middle of next week.
