NORTH LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The Electric Daisy Festival, or EDC, will be taking place May 17-19 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in North Las Vegas and the event is expected to bring an economic boost to area businesses by attracting about 150,000 festival-goers a night.

Hotel management at a recently opened Motel 6, located near the motor speedway, said Insomniac, the company that puts on EDC, has rented the entire hotel for the week of the festival - something that has already helped the new property significantly.

Another local business, Sun Buggy Fun, told 13 Action News that the weekend can cause a headache with the increased traffic, but the team has enjoyed picking up extra customers after seeing the store while attending the festival.

Prices for hotel rooms in the area have increased due to demand during EDC weekend.

Management at the Aviation Inn, located on East Craig Road, said the typical rate for a weekend averages about $100, but during the festival, prices can increase to around $300 for the weekend.

The team also said the property is currently booked for this year's event.
