LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A driver involved in a crash that killed one woman and "severely injured" several others in northwest Las Vegas is suspected of driving under the influence, police say.

32-year old Gabriel Haas was charged with DUI and reckless driving.

On Sunday, police say Haas was speeding in a Tesla Model 3 and failed to stop at a red light at the intersection on Cheyenne Avenue and Soft Breezes Drive, near Buffalo Drive, when the Tesla crashed into a Honda.

The impact from the crash dislodged the front wheel assembly, motor, and transmission of the Honda and the debris hit a third vehicle, police say. The Tesla also spun out of control and crashed into four people who were sitting on a low wall in the corner of the intersection.

Both occupants of the Honda were brought to UMC Trauma where police say the 62-year-old female passenger succumbed to her injuries. On Sunday night the 70-year-old male driver remained in critical condition.

One of the pedestrians hit was brought to the hospital in critical condition, the others had minor or no injuries.

Haas is being held at Clark County Detention Center without bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 25.
