NEVADA (KTNV) — Desert life appears to be getting a little more expensive these days when it comes to real estate, especially in a few specific areas in Nevada and Arizona.

PropertyShark, a real estate blog that covers market trends and industry news, expanded on its annual most expensive zip code study in the U.S. with pinpointing the highest-priced desert zip codes this year.

Nevada is home to 50% of the most expensive desert zips, according to the study, with Washoe and Clark Counties claiming 18 of the state's priciest zips. Seven zip codes from Douglas and Carson City counties were also included on the list.

The No. 1 priciest spot came in as 89413, located in Glenbrook, Nev., near Lake Tahoe, with an average real estate price tag of $1.7 million. The affluent community made the top 100 most expensive zip codes in the U.S. as well at No. 55 overall.

Crystal Bay's 89402, also located in Nevada near Lake Tahoe, came in as the second-highest priced desert zip code averaging $1.69M. The Lake Tahoe enclave made the overall list at No. 67.

When it comes to Southern Nevada, 89158 was ranked fourth overall in the study, with an average price of $919,000. This spot was tops in the Las Vegas area and covers the westside of Las Vegas Boulevard at Harmon Avenue, where CityCenter is located.

The real estate blog said it determined its list after analyzing residential sales that occurred between Jan. 1, 2019, through Nov. 5, 2019, calculating the median sale price for each zip code.

Paradise Valley's 85253 and Scottsdale's 85262 in Arizona rounded out the top five expensive desert zips with $1.4 million and $815,000 averages.
