UPDATE: The standoff ended around 2:10 p.m., according to reports at the scene. Medical personnel transported the man away from the cemetery in an ambulance.

Airport runways opened back up around 2:22 p.m. And both lanes of Eastern Avenue were up and running by 2:50 p.m.

ORIGINAL STORY

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) -- A standoff with a suicidal man began just before 10 a.m. Sunday at a cemetery located near Eastern Avenue and Patrick Lane.

A man with a gun is inside the cemetery grounds holding a gun to his head.

About 80 people are inside the Davis Funeral Home, which operates the cemetery, and are sheltered in place as a precaution.

Police shut down Eastern Avenue between Russell and Sunset Roads.

McCarran Airport closed down the east and west runway, and flights have been diverted to the north and south runway. They were shut down because the end of the runway is near the location of the suicidal man, and overhead planes were making it difficult for officers to communicate with him.

Airport officials say no significant delays were directly caused by this incident.

SWAT and negotiators are at the scene.
