CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Former Democratic Party Chairwoman Roberta Lange got a big endorsement from former U.S. Sen. Harry Reid but is trailing a sitting assemblywoman in a hotly contested Las Vegas-area state senate race.

Lange also was backed by the influential Las Vegas' Culinary Union Local 226.

But results released early Wednesday morning showed Lange trailing Assemblywoman Ellen Spiegel 40% to 33%.

Count Continues: Nevada 2020 primary election results
Long lines and extended wait times at the limited number of polling places open in Nevada on Tuesday delayed the initial publication of election results to early Wednesday.

The primary was largely conducted with mailed-in ballots.

The Nevada Secretary of State is scheduled to update vote totals on Thursday.
