In its first season, the Vegas Golden Knights has given Las Vegas locals plenty to cheer about, now some Canadians want to get in on the excitement.

Canadian comedians of The Justin and Greg Show started a petition asking the province of Saskatchewan, Canada to officially adopt the Golden Knights as its NHL franchise.

"The people of Saskatchewan have been waiting for someone just like you for a long time!" the duo said in a Facebook video.

Justin and Greg want the Saskatchewan province to adopt the team because the province has a love for hockey but no NHL team to call their own.

The duo explains that it's cheaper to fly to Las Vegas than to other Canadian cities with NHL teams, the weather is great, and star player Brayden McNabb is a native of the province.

The Vegas Golden Knights organization sent the following statement to 13 Action News.

"We are flattered by the enthusiasm and excitement that exists for the Vegas Golden Knights in the province of Saskatchewan. Canadians love hockey and they love Las Vegas. We welcome all fans to our great city and if an entire province would like to adopt the Golden Knights as their official team, we'd be all for it."
