UPDATE: Police say the rider of a motorcycle was killed in the crash at Tropicana Avenue and Koval Lane.

Friends and family identified her as Shivon McKeague during a memorial Thursday night.

Family says McKeague was giving a friend a ride on her motorcycle when she died.

The friend remains hospitalized with minor injuries.

PREVIOUS STORY: Emergency responders were called to the scene of a fatal crash near Koval Lane and Tropicana Avenue on Thursday morning.

Police say that a motorcycle carrying two people was speeding on Tropicana towards the Strip when a car made a lane change and the motorcyclist slammed on his brakes to avoid the vehicle.

The motorcycle went down and both people were ejected. A female was pronounced dead at the scene. The motorcyclist was transported to University Medical Center.

Police say that they could smell alcohol on the motorcyclist.

This is the 20th traffic-related fatality in Las Vegas this year and the 2nd incident involving a motorcycle in two days.

Police are asking drivers to drive responsibly.

"This is the time of season we're going to start seeing these motorcycle riders out here, so my plea goes out to everybody," says Sgt. Strader with Metro Police Department.

The Clark County coroner will identify the deceased after relatives have been notified.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
