Sentencing was postponed for a 20-year-old man facing 12 to 40 years in prison for driving under the influence of drugs in a crash that killed a 6-year-old girl and her grandmother at a Las Vegas bus stop.
Prosecutor Brian Rutledge told a judge Tuesday that Leonardo Ruesga is challenging findings in a state presentencing report. Ruesga's lawyer was absent because he's in an unrelated trial.
Clark County District Court Judge Jennifer Togliatti scheduled a Feb. 23 hearing.
Ruesga pleaded guilty in December to DUI causing death in the March 30 crash that killed 58-year-old Maria Garcia and her granddaughter, Alyssa Aisa. Prosecutors say Ruesga had marijuana and methamphetamine in his system at the time.
An 18-month-old girl in a stroller also was hit, but escaped serious injury.
