UPDATE MAY 30: Sen. Bernie Sanders visited Las Vegas on Thursday and held a town hall at Roy W. Martin Middle School, located near downtown, at 200 North 28th Street.

Hundreds packed into the school's cafeteria to listen to the two-time Democratic presidential contender speak Thursday afternoon.

Sanders promised to pass comprehensive immigration reform, a heath care plan for all and to increase taxes on Wall Street to help fund education.

Also at the town hall was the Nevada Republican Party. Members criticized Sanders' remarks in April about letting prisoners vote - something Sanders didn't address Thursday but mentioned his platform on prison reform.

Thursday's afternoon event was open to the public and later in the evening Sanders was also scheduled to hold a closed meeting at Maya Cinemas in North Las Vegas.
