After signing on as the head basketball coach for the Runnin' Rebels less than a week ago, Chris Beard was contacted by Texas Tech about their coaching vacancy Thursday night in Las Vegas.
UNLV athletic director Tina Kunzer-Murphy confirmed that the meeting took place. She said that she and Coach Beard should have the situation resolved by Friday.
According to ESPN, Beard was intrigued by the Texas Tech position because of his background at the university and because his three daughters live two hours from Lubbock, Texas. ESPN also said that Texas Tech could pay more than double what Beard makes at UNLV.
