The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) transit system will operate on alternate schedules on Christmas and New Year’s holidays and offer free rides for all passengers from 6 p.m. on New Year’s Eve to 9 a.m. on New Year’s Day.

The RTC also encourages residents to take advantage of its transit system and free park and ride facilities throughout the holiday season.

Due to traditionally lower ridership and less traffic on holidays, the RTC will operate its transit system on a Saturday schedule Christmas Eve, Thursday, Dec. 24, on a Sunday schedule Christmas Day, Friday, Dec. 25, and New Year’s Day, Friday, Jan. 1.

Additionally, the RTC will offer free rides on all fixed-route services to residents and tourists from New Year’s Eve, Thursday, Dec. 31, at 6 p.m. to 9 a.m. on New Year’s Day, Friday, Jan. 1.

This includes the Westcliff Airport Express (WAX) and the Centennial Express (CX) which will run approximately every 20 minutes to and from downtown from 6 p.m. on New Year’s Eve to 4 a.m. on New Year’s Day.

Riders should note that extensive transit detours will be in place on New Year’s Eve due to celebrations on the Las Vegas Strip.

Schedules and more information for all RTC transit routes are available here or in the RTC’s Transit Guide.

Riders with questions can call the RTC’s Customer Service line at 702.228.RIDE (7433).
