Tuesday night was one of Dr. Geoffrey Sher's final seminars. The well known Las Vegas fertility doctor told 13 Action News previously that he is having a hard time leaving behind a lifetime of helping couples bring new lives into the world.

"I never forget the Godfather movie. Al Pacino said, 'I'm no sooner on my way out then I get sucked back in.' That's what's happening with me," said Dr. Sher.

But Dr. Sher couldn't retire without repeating the act of generosity that he's so well known for. After the seminar, he raffled off not one, but two free cycles of in vitro fertilization. Dr. Sher doubled his initial offer when he saw how many people were in attendance.

Ivelina Hamel was the first winner. She fought back tears.

"I just cant believe it , especially because its my birthday," she said. "So, it's like a miracle."

Next came Veronica Vanhook.

"I'm just so grateful," said Vanhook. "So grateful."

Vanhook said after years of watching other relatives have child after child, she and her husband worried they might never be parents too.

"We're like the greatest uncle and aunt because we don't have children, but that thought of everyday of when is it going to be my turn? It's just very overwhelming."

She always had hope, but now she has the help that made Dr. Sher a nationally recognized physician.

"Just realizing that you're not alone and there are so many people in your area who struggle with infertility," she said. "What they are doing is just amazing and im truly blessed!"
