HENDERSON (KTNV) — Time Magazine ranks Henderson as the top city to live in Nevada this year.

Henderson is the second largest city in the state, seeing a population growth of about 13 percent since 2010.

Henderson's Chamber of Commerce President Scott Muelrath said he is proud to be recognized.

"I think with the way that the development is going around Henderson we will see more people coming here for work," Muelrath said.

The ongoing construction of new homes and businesses is a clear sign that the Henderson community continues to grow.

"We will see more people coming here for construction, education and health care jobs. Those are some of the cores in our Henderson community," Muelrath said.

With more residents moving into the city, there is a tendency for crime to also be on the rise. As a recent FBI crime data showed, Henderson had close to 5,500 property crimes - giving residents a 1 in 47 chance of becoming a victim.

Also, Henderson can also expect to see more residents calling it home with the new Raiders practice facility coming into play soon.

However, even with the growth seen in the area 13 Action News was informed by many people that getting around remains easy.

"There's not as much traffic here, so you don't spend as much time in traffic jams like other places," Bryan Ryan said, Henderson resident.

Henderson offers many outdoor retreats along with city entertainment, according to the Time's report.
