A 36-year-old Reno man faces up to 20 years in prison after he was convicted of driving under the influence when he struck a pedestrian in April near Stead Elementary School.

Shonnon McNatt was found guilty last week of DUI causing substantial bodily harm in connection with the accident on Silver Lake Boulevard north of Reno.

Washoe County District Attorney Chris Hicks said in a statement Monday the 56-year-old male victim broke his collar bone and shoulder blade.

McNatt argued the collision was caused by a blown tire. But Deputy DA Zelalem Bogale said the flat tire was caused by McNatt driving his Audi into a curb and onto the sidewalk before striking a road sign. He says McNatt's blood-alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit.

His sentencing is set for Jan. 25, 2017.
