LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — So far this year, 22 transgender people have been shot or killed in the United States, according to The Human Rights Campaign.

HRC shared the names of those who passed on Wednesday, Transgender Day of Remembrance.

The organization says far too often these stories go unreported.

It's holding an event in to honor the victims on Friday in Las Vegas.

The event takes place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the LGBTQ Center of Southern Nevada on 401 South Maryland Parkway.
