The remains of a 33-year-old northern Nevada man who had been missing for nearly two months have been found in the desert in Churchill County.

Churchill County sheriff's deputies say they confirmed the remains found on Thursday are those of Joseph Pahl.

Pahl had been reported missing on Dec. 10.

The sheriff says concerned citizens notified law enforcement in Fallon on Thursday they had come across the white 1998 Toyota Forerunner he last was seen in.

The sheriff's office reported earlier that Pahl was on supervised release from the state Department of Corrections and was considered an absconder. He also was disabled and had medical issues that required daily medication.

An autopsy is pending to determine a formal cause of death. No other details have been released.
