UPDATE ON APRIL 11: The Nevada Department of Corrections says that Jay Cantrell was captured near Kingman, Arizona, on Tuesday afternoon.

ORIGINAL STORY

A prisoner who was being evaluated at a local mental facility has escaped.

51-year-old Jay Cantrell escaped from Muri Stein Hospital near Charleston and Jones boulevards around 6:40 p.m.

Cantrell is serving a sentence for grand larceny and is a habitual criminal. He was moved to Stein Hospital for evaluation pending upcoming court proceedings.

Cantrell is 6 feet tall, 185 lbs, with brown eyes, brown hair and a tattoo of a clown with jail bars on his left shoulder. He was last seen wearing navy blue pants, a black Adidas shirt with white stripes and black sneakers with Velcro straps.
