A pregnant employee was assaulted in a Sunday morning robbery at Lowe's Home Improvement in the northeast valley.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department was called to 2465 N. Nellis Blvd., near Carey Avenue, regarding a robbery that took place around 9 a.m. Police said a man armed with a black semiautomatic handgun took the pregnant woman to the back room where there's an accountant. He then taped both their hands and later robbed the cash room.

Police confirm that a pregnant woman was hit in the stomach with a firearm during the robbery. She was taken to Sunrise Hospital as a precaution.

Regular shoppers at the Lowe's were shocked to be turned away because of the robbery investigation.

"This store here in this location, to me, is one of the safest ones," said Warren Peck, a contractor. "I shop at a lot of them. Then I come this morning and lo and behold, it's been robbed. Very surprising to me."

The security guard in the parking lot told 13 Action News she was behind the building when the robbery happened.

Police said the suspect is a possible Hispanic male in his 30s, 5'8" and 170 pounds. He was wearing a black cap, sunglasses, gray hoodie and a dark jacket.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
