CNN has obtained a recording of a private recording last week that shows Republican Senate candidate Joe Heck afraid of Donald Trump hurting his chances.
In the recording, Heck is heard saying Trump could suppress Republican turnout and make it hard for him to win the seat being vacated by Sen. Harry Reid.
Heck is running against Democrat Catherine Cortez Masto in one of the most closely watched Senate races in the country.
Heck also said in the recording that he wants to support Trump but he has "got to change his tone" and he is not going to win by appealing to a small portion of the Republican base.
Heck dropped his endorsement of Trump after lewd comments surfaced about the Republican presidential candidate.
