Las Vegas police invited the public to join them for a rally against violence from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday in downtown Las Vegas.
It was held in a vacant lot near 15th and Fremont Streets.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department organized the event after a series of violent incidents, including a stabbing not far from where children were playing at the time.
Police representatives and community members will meet to talk about ways to end the violence.
The rally will be followed by a peace walk.
