UPDATE: Death of homeless man appears to be homicide

UPDATE: Las Vegas police say that the man's death is being considered a homicide. It appears that the victim, a homeless man, suffered from blunt force trauma. This is the 15th homicide so far this year in Las Vegas.

Las Vegas police are investigating a suspicious death near Grand Central and City parkways near downtown Las Vegas.

Police say they received a report of someone lying on the ground and not moving at 8:59 a.m.

The person may have been hit on the head.

There may be road closures in the area. Motorists should seek alternate routes.

Police believe it is a homeless man who often sleeps in that area. The man is approximately 60 years old. His body was found by his friend who had come to pick him up and take him to the rescue mission for food.

The Clark County coroner will release name and age of victim after relatives have been notified.
