Family and friends described Christensen as "the life of the party."

"He loved to make everybody smile and that's why he was so personable, everyone liked him," said Reggie Christensen, Matthew's brother.

Christensen was a student at Mojave High School, before moving to Arizona. He moved back to Las Vegas with his girlfriend several years ago. According to his family, he was just three weeks away from leaving the job at Lee's to pursue another opportunity.

"When we moved out to Vegas, his mother said 'take care of him Yvette' and I wasn't there to protect him [when he died]," said his girlfriend Yvette Rioux.

Now, friends and family just want to know why an innocent man was killed.

"Why? What was the point? Cause he couldn't open a safe? You had money, you could have had exactly what you left with, but with one less person dead," Reggie said.

GoFundMe has been set up for Matthew Christensen.

UPDATE: LVMPD released video of this robbery and shooting during a press conference Tuesday afternoon.

3 men and a female person of interest are seen in the video at Lee's Discount Liquor.

Lt. Dan McGrath had very strong words about the crime.

"They produced their weapons, they committed an armed robbery and in a very heinous act shoot the victim who was not resisting, very, very disturbing high level of violence," he said.

Even District Attorney Steve Wolfson made a rare appearance at the LVMPD press conference to express his shock and disgust at the crime.

"This was an execution murder, this was a stupid, stupid murder and I don't get angry that often but I am really angry at this one," said Wolfson.

If you have any information on the whereabouts of these suspects, please call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
